I think people forget that the early iPhones actually made it kind of hard to share your photos and media. I had to use both iPhones and Android phones for work, and I was kind of shocked that after I took a photo on Android, it was like "here are 7 things you can do to share it now," while on iPhone you had two options: Share to Email, Share to MMS.

People remember that Instagram blew up because of the filters, but really it was because it fulfilled the desire to share your iPhone photos instantly with a group outside the contacts on your phone.

ugh... the more I learn about the JoCat situation, the more I get upset over how easy it is to get a hate mob frothing over the smallest thing and yet the same mob can't put their efforts into anything useful. :/

Like, In order to get so upset over a silly music video, one needs to completely ignore:

1. how old the video is

2. how short it is

3. the song is a parody of what was in the top 100 at the time of not one of the top10s of that year

4. the general vibe of the art and artist and the cultural touchstones selected

5. the rough draft quality of the work since it's basically a shitpost from a throwaway line in a recent live stream.

one has to ignore ALL of those and then make really uncalled for allegations of the work and basically true crime their way to a killer and motive. :/ JoCat deserved better than this and I hope everyone else involved find their fan bases moving to someone better

Re:JoCat. I've been stewing on this awhile so I'm just gonna vomit all of it here.

The people I follow gave not-apology for """ironically""" making fun of him for and opening the door for real hate, with one person going as far as saying they're going to only put their """ironic""" mockery on a private account, like someone trying to hide their hornyposting. They would rather jump through hoops to continue making fun of someone than have a moment of self-reflection on what the fuck they're actually doing. 'What if I just wasn't shitty to someone? What if I didn't broadcast my """ironic""" ridicule to hundreds/thousands of people, some of which are deranged and will take me seriously? What if I was just fucking nicer in general?'

I'm just an exhausted that The Online Class is still unwilling to express genuine sincerity about something. It's so fucking performative. Even if we like something, we still have to pretend we think it's cringe, lest others mock us for actually liking things. We're not in high school anymore, you don't have to be afraid of Regina George.

From the ads, at least, Temu is the place you go for knockoff handbags and weird pedicure kits. By contrast, Amazon is the place you go for a ten-pack of toothpaste because you’re a hikikomori and don’t feel like walking to the bodega at the end of the block instead.

Another way of putting this is that Temu is the place you go to buy useless tat you can shill for referrals on TikTok, whereas Amazon is the place where you buy fifteen pounds of peanut butter.

It’s really a styrofoam-prop-apples-to-50kg-of-oranges comparison between the two.

AliExpress has been around a long time now, but it's not as polished and accessible as Temu is today... Nor was there a good reason for Americans to use it while Amazon was still a less menacing presence in our lives. Now, with Amazon slowly being overrun by third party sellers shipping copycat goods in place of legitimate items, why pay full price when you can just opt in to the knockoff at a fraction of the cost? If it sucks, who cares? It's cheap!

I don't know if it ever became common knowledge but one of the big reasons the 3D features of the 3DS were phased out was because it was determined to be of "limited social viability" or something like that. Basically, it was impossible to convey how cool the 3D effect was through marketing materials or to casual observers. I think you're right on with VR/Vision Pro having the same issue.

I get you have to be brief to pump these newsletters out but you needed to put more detail into that first article. A majority of those comments on Hesse's post were attacking her, not JoCat. Her response was pretty bad but it is rooted in a place of truth.

Before JoCat QRT'd it, it had only a couple thousand likes. JoCat then, (albeit not intentionally) made it worse by shining a giant spotlight on the video again, getting tons of QRTs off the back of the "plagarism scandal" that happened recently.

This caused tons of people, riled up about plagarism and defending their favorite guy to attack Hesse. The attack on Hesse causes a ton of equally riled up people to attack JoCat for something he has no control over.

Hesse and JoCat come out worse for the wear because you can't post anything with a following without random strangers foaming at the mouth to attack people on your behalf.

Why the fuck wouldn't dirtbag leftists still exist? If you're conservative, you haven't been paying attention. Or you're antiamerican. Possibly both.
